Dear {!firstname}:

Welcome to Your WEBSITE LAW ALERT by Chip Cooper and DigiContracts.com

Chip's Commentary:

Entrepreneurs are always looking for new trends.

It's easy to pick up the trends of today - and it's not a particularly big challenge to spot tomorrow's trends, says Michael Moe, a founding partner at ThinkEquity in this entrepreneur thought leader lecture given at Stanford University earlier this year. One way to do that, he notes, is to carefully examine the evolution of demographics.

New FTC Regs - Rules For Online Advertisers

As discussed in the last newsletter, the new FTC Guides re endorsements and testimonials consists of 2 sets of rules:

  • blogger rules - rules governing bloggers who pitch someone else's products or services through endorsements or testimonials, and
  • recruiter rules - rules governing those who recruit others (bloggers, affiliates, etc.) to pitch their products.

The 2 preceding newsletters focused on the general rules for both bloggers and recruiters, and specific rules for bloggers. These newsletters are posted in my newsletter archive.

This article drills down into the 2nd set of rules - rules affecting recruiters: Cliffsnotes for Online Marketers To Avoid FTC Liability From Affiliates and Resellers.

If you're classified as an "advertiser" under the Guides, time is short for you to begin a compliance program. The Guides go into effect on December 1, 2009.

Comments From Digicontracts.com:

To assist you in beginning your compliance program, I've updated the following documents in our online drafting service to reflect the clauses discussed in the article:

I'll be updating additional documents in the near future.

Regards,
