Dear {!firstname}:

Welcome to Your WEBSITE LAW ALERT by Chip Cooper and DigiContracts.com

Chip's Commentary:

David Allen is a productivity coach and consultant. Here's a recent quote from David:

"Unexpected changes that will disrupt your circumstances are on their way. And the best way to be ready for the unknown is to deal with that which is very known-the current incomplete, loose ends of your life. Trust me-something's coming toward you that will really occupy your mind and require your total attention. It needs an open field to land in and a spacious hangar with sharp, clean tools for dealing with it."

I think that's David's way of saying that we'd better start eliminating the piles on our desks, and other such distractions... and begin to organize and prepare to be ready for unexpected changes that may turn out to be great opportunities.

New Consumer Tracking Rules

Let's suppose you want to track behavioral data indicating how users use your website.

You provide a notice of your tracking plan in your end user license agreement accompanying the tracking software, and also in your privacy policy.

You should you feel confident that you've covered all the bases in terms of website legal compliance -- right?

"Not so fast", says the Federal Trade Commission, as it issued new rules in the Sears.com settlement.

For a quick and easy summary, read my article entitled New Consumer Tracking Rules Make it Easier to Flunk Website Legal Compliance .

Comments From Digicontracts.com:

I've completely updated and re-written our Website Development Agreement. Subscribers to the following will be able to access the updated and re-written agreement at no charge:

  • Complete Library,
  • SaaS-Ecommerce Library, and
  • Website Development-Hosting Library.

Update re Red Flag Identity Theft Rules: the deadline for implementation of the Red Flag Identity Theft rules was extended again at the last minute from August 1 to November 1. I believe this is the 3rd extension -- you'd think they could get this straight by now. So, if you've procrastinated, you've got another reprieve. This is the last time I'll link to my 2 articles and template regarding these rules. This is probably as tiresome to you as it is to me.
