Dear {!firstname}: Welcome to Your WEBSITE LAW ALERT by Chip Cooper and DigiContracts.com
We suffered a sad loss last week. We had to put our old house (and office) cat to sleep. Tiger was 5 months short of 20 years old. Tiger had a great life -- we should all be so lucky. So, there are no regrets, only sadness at the passing of a member of our family. |

Recently, I've talked to several operators of general audience sites (sites that are not directed to children), and they mistakenly believe that the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) doesn't apply to them. Sony recently found out the hard way. For more about the Sony case -- and 3 tips to avoid tripping the COPPA trap, click here. To learn more about the FTC's COPPA guidelines, click here. By now you know that we're in the testing phase for an API that will allow website developers, automated website generators, and vendors of content management software to offer our website legal compliance service that will completely automate document selection and drafting -- and also will automatically insert the documents into a user's site (with no action required by the user). As part of the API project, we have joined all of the website compliance documents together with my document selection algorithm -- so that document selection and drafting is all in a single process (you don't have to answer a separate questionnaire for each document). When the testing is complete, we'll make this single process available to all subscribers of our website legal compliance packages -- for no additional charge. Regards,
